Sedtal Rodent Rescue is closing.
The people who run our housing have decided we are a "business," and the person I talked to on the phone about this said this kind of "business" would "absolutely not" be approved because we sponsor people onto the base to meet animals (when I specifically say on Petfinder that we don't allow visitors because some small animals catch diseases that can be brought in by people), and because we charge adoption fees (when those fees cover only a small fraction of what we spend on the animals, and when not charging an adoption fee would make it easier for people with less than honorable intentions to adopt). I was told that another resident reported us, which is really disappointing because of the neighbors who know about this, I didn't think any of them had a problem with it. As you might gather, I'm not happy about this. But we've been able to do a little good, which was the goal in the beginning. It would have been nice to do more, but it seems that others around us either don't value good deeds, or don't believe small animals are worthy of them.

If you have a pet that you are trying to find a rescue or new home for, I would be more than happy to help you find that, but I will not be able to foster. Please don't threaten to euthanize or take the pet to the pound. I can list pets on Petfinder and screen homes, and I can try and put you in touch with other rescues. I really hate not being able to take in fosters, but until we live off base, or at a base that's a little more tolerant of such things, that won't be possible.
